MESSAGE FROM FISD
Farmersville ISD wants to make parents and community members aware of a mobile app called BurnBook. The app, which can be used to post photos and information about others, has contributed to disruption at area and nationwide schools. It has caused issues with our students over the past few days.
Information posted on the Internet, including Burnbook, is not anonymous. The app's developer warns the user's IP address can and will be tracked and shared with authorities.
Please be diligent in teaching your child(ren) that threats and comments posted on BurnBook or other social media are not jokes. It is our hope by working together no student will have to face consequences from school or law enforcement authorities. Please encourage your child(ren) to not install, or, if already installed, to delete the BurnBook app.
BurnBook and other similar applications have been blocked from the FISD network. This does not keep students from accessing BurnBook and similar apps on their cell phones using their Internet service provider. Please help us by checking your child's phone to help ensure threats or harmful comments are not posted.
Thank you for your assistance in helping us to prevent disruptions that can affect teaching and learning. Please contact school administrators with any concerns.
